My name is John Black, or at least that’s the name I’m known by here. It comes from a combination of people I admire for their humor, intellect, opinions and general volume level. I’ll let the guesswork begin.
I am a New Orleans resident and, despite our government’s best efforts, my soul remains uncrushed. I take everything with the Louisiana sense of humor and the c’est la vie attitude that makes this town so great.
However, I don’t pull any punches either. When someone upsets me, I let them know. I was never good at biting my tongue and, growing up, I was in almost constant trouble for shooting my mouth off.
Now, I write letters. I write letters to companies that are trying to screw me over, the idiot in front of me in traffic, the politician that shot their mouth, and foot, clean off and anyone else that gets under my skin.
Usually though, I never sent them. It was more about writing them than sending them, a way to calm down and vent. Besides, who would I send them too? Who would read them? Would they even care?
No clue. No clue. And probably not.
So I’m making those letters open. If the people they’re addressed to happen to pick them up, that’s great. If not, I really don’t care. Maybe someone else can benefit and learn from it though.
So what can you expect from this site? Just about anything. The only thing these posts will have in common is that they’ll all be letters. Today I could be lashing out at video games, tomorrow it could be politicians followed by my neighbors.
It’s like a box of chocolates, only you’re probably hoping that the card doesn’t have your name on it…
